The research activities at LIFTEC are dedicated to the study of various phenomena related to Fluid Dynamics, with special attention to environmental problems, including experimental, computational and theoretical techniques.
The main lines of research are:
LIFTEC is consolidated as a reference center of international standing within these disciplines. Some of the experimental facilities at LIFTEC are considered to be "singular" and unique within the Spanish context. These include a semi-industrial burner, laminar flow reactors both for fluid and solid fuels, atomization systems and test benches for PEM fuel cells. These facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art diagnosis and monitoring systems.
Furthermore, LIFTEC has extensive experience in numerical simulation in fluids, developing in-house software that cover a wide range of basic, applied or environmental flows, including flood prediction, combustion in thermo solar supporting boilers, environmental reactive contaminant dispersion at local, regional, national or even continental scales, fuel cell detailed simulations, particle filtration, flow around wind turbines, etc.
